As youth in Kosovo, we worked hard. We didn’t change the world, nor did we change our country, but we did have an impact on our communities, on our peers, and we did plant a powerful seed of hope in people’s hearts.

- Fatmire Feka, in her keynote address at WEMC 2008

All too often, ambitious attempts to achieve wide-reaching change are met with seemingly minimal results. Having the knowledge that change is needed, but not knowing where to start in inciting it, is a demoralizing feeling - often, it prevents individuals from taking steps towards achieving peace, justice, and equality in their communities, as well as around the globe.

Why Everything Must Change (WEMC) is a conference that aims to give attendees the tools and confidence to take these initial strides. Just as Fatmire Feka, along with fellow youth in Kosovo, decided to act in spite of the magnitude of their homeland’s troubles, we need to overcome our feelings of inadequacy and work towards making a difference, no matter how small it may initially seem. As Fatmire pointed out later in her address, the seemingly powerless children of today quickly grow into tomorrow’s leaders. Come out on October 23-24, and discover how the efforts you make now - regardless of how small they may seem - have the potential to change the world.
